More About Substance Abuse TreatmentWhen treating substance abuse and addiction, it is important to find a program that is able to address the unique needs of each client. The factors that contribute to the development of addiction are highly personal and vary from person to person, making the need for individualized care even more crucial. Additionally, the treatment plan must be able to evolve with the individual and change to suit the client’s needs as they progress through recovery.
Today, treatment for addiction rarely follows the same model from person to person. While each client is provided with an individualized treatment plan, they will also follow a treatment path that helps them develop into independent, sober adults. Through a variety of therapies, clients are guided down a path of self-discovery with endless resources to support them in their journey. Combining traditional therapies with new techniques and therapeutic approaches keeps treatment engaging, balanced, and well-rounded to ensure clients can grow in their sobriety and develop healthy behaviors to support it long-term.
Making Treatment Successful
Clients entering treatment come from unique environments that require special attention in treatment. No two people will experience the exact same influences, triggers, and struggles, making specialized care critical to overall success. Sober College San Diego is equipped to provide clients from vastly different backgrounds a high level of care in which a person can build a new sober foundation. While clients participate in a number of traditional therapies, there are numerous options for those in need of specialized treatment.
As each person’s struggle with addiction is unique, so too is the care required to treat it. Sober College San Diego provides clients with a safe environment to recover from addiction, and the resources to develop a new sober lifestyle.
Types of Substance Abuse Treatment
There is no one-size-fits-all method to addiction treatment. Each person’s unique background, family history, and experience creates different needs in recovery Treatment evolves over time with the client’s individual plan to ensure it meets this or her changing needs.
Most begin the recovery process with detoxification and withdrawal. In some cases, this may require medical supervision in order to ensure detox is both safe and comfortable. The process involves clearing the body of all mind and mood altering substances. Throughout the detox process, most experience withdrawal symptoms that range in severity. Depending on the length of time a person has abused substances and the types of substances used, this may require the assistance of medical professionals. While detox is an important first step in recovery, it does not address the social, psychological, and behavioral problems that led to the development of addiction in the first place. Thus, many who undergo detox will immediately enter into a substance abuse treatment program.
Depending on a person’s needs, there are several options for substance abuse treatment available. These include:
Long-term Residential Treatment
Many of these treatment programs are highly specialized. Rather than just general rehab, clients receive treatment that is most relevant to their personal experience. Gender-specific treatment and age-specific treatment ensure clients have space to discuss issues that are unique to them. Clients can discuss more difficult topics in a safe environment with others who can readily relate to their experiences.
